The Test will consist of three papers. All the three papers will consist of only objective type questions

Paper-I shall be of general nature, intended to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate. The paper shall consist of 50 objective type compulsory questions and each question will carry 2 marks.
Paper-II shall consist of 50 objective type compulsory questions based on the subject selected by the candidate. Each question will carry 2 marks.
Paper-III will consist of 75 objective type compulsory questions from the subject selected by the candidate. Each question will carry 2 marks.
All the questions of Paper – II and Paper – III will be compulsory, covering entire syllabus

UPSC Entry: Women candidates of age 19 to 25 years (as per notified in the advertisement) can apply for this entry. Candidates who are successful in the written exam, are called for SSB interview. Minimum Eligibility : Graduation/Post Graduation

NCC Special entry:  NCC women cadets Having spent 2 years service in NCC senior division army and have minimum B grade in C certificate exam can get entry into Defence. Women cadets of age 19 to 25 years (as per notified in the advertisement) can apply for it.

SSC-Technical Entry: Engineering students of age 20 to 27 years (as per notified in the advertisement) are eligible for this entry. They can apply for it while in final year or after completing their degree. technical entry is allowed as per the latest notification issued by competent authority

JAG entry: This entry is for the law graduates only. The age required for this entry is 21 to 27 years which is notified along with the vacancies by additional directorate general recruiting in the month of April or October. To be eligible for this entry, a candidate must be having a graduate degree of LLB/LLM with minimum 55% aggregate and the candidate should be registered with Bar Council of India or state can apply for this entry. Indian Air Force

AFCAT Entries:  AFCAT stands for Air Force Common Admission Test. It is held twice in a year. It is a written exam and those who qualify in this exam are called for SSB interview. Female candidates dreaming to fly high in the sky can go for this option.

branch: Women candidates of age 19 to 23 years (as per notified in the advertisement) can opt for flying branch. To apply for this entry, a candidate should be having a Graduate degree in any discipline from a recognized university with aggregate of 60% marks and have passed Maths and Physics at 10+2 level OR B.E/B.Tech degree from a recognized university with aggregate of minimum 60% marks

Technical Branch: Female engineering candidates of age 18 to 28 years can opt for technical branch. There are two types of technical service whose educational qualification conditions are given below:

• Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical):Minimum four year degree course from a recognized university with aggregate of minimum 60% marks and qualification in at least eight subjects out of eighteen as per notified in the advertisement OR cleared Section A and B exam of Associate membership of Institution of engineers or Aeronautical society of India in regular courses
• Aeronautical Engineer (Electrical):Minimum year degree course from a recognized university with aggregate of minimum 60% marks and qualification in at least eight subjects as per notified in the advertisement OR cleared Section A and B exam of Associate membership of Institution of engineers or Aeronautical society of India or graduate membership exam of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers in regular courses

Ground Duty Branches:

For graduates: 20 to 23 years, Post Graduates: 20 to 25 years, LLB: 20 to 26 years, M.Ed/ PhD/ CA: 20 to 27 years.  This eligibility creitria is subject to be revised by Governemnt from time to time. Kindly refer latest notification. There are three types of services in Ground Duty Branches whose educational qualification conditions are given below:

• Administration and Logistics:Graduate in any discipline from a recognized university with aggregate of 60% marks OR a Post Graduate degree/ diploma in any discipline from a recognized university with aggregate of minimum 60% marks
• Education: Post Graduate degree in any discipline with aggregate of minimum 50% marks
• Accounts: Graduate degree in any commerce with aggregate of  minimum 60% marks OR a Post Graduate degree/ diploma in Commerce (M Com) / CA / ICWA with aggregate of minimum 50% marks

Non-AFCAT Entry:

• Meteorology Branch: In this entry, candidates are short-listed and called for SSB interviews at Air Force Selection Board’s. Age group in this entry is 20 to 25 years and  27 years for PhD candidates. To be eligible for this entry candidates must be having a Post graduate degree in any science stream / Maths / Statistics / Geography / CS / EVS / Physics / Geo-physics etc. with minimum 50% aggregate and have scores 55% marks both in Maths and Physics at graduation level. Final year students can also apply for it.

Indian Navy

Executive branch

• SSC- Air Traffic Controller: Women candidates of age19 ½ to 25 years are eligible for this entry. They can apply for this entry if they have completed their graduation in any science stream i.e. Physics/Maths/Electronics OR M.Sc with Maths / Physics /Electronics.
• SSC- Observer: Women candidates of age19 to 23 years can apply for this entry. For applying in this entry, women candidates need to have a graduate degree in any discipline with minimum 55% marks with Maths and Physics at 10+2 level.
• SC- Law: This entry is for female Law candidates whose age is between 22 to 27 years as per notified in the advertisement. To be eligible for this entry a candidates should carry a graduate degree in LAW with minimum 55% marks.
• SSC- Logistics: Women candidates who hold B.E/B.Tech in Computers, IT, Architecture, Civil, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Marine engineering OR graduate with PG diploma in material management are eligible for this entry. The age group is 19 ½ to 25 years as per notified in the advertisement.

Engineering branch

• UES SSC(Naval Architecture): Women engineers carrying the B.E/B.Tech degree in naval architecture / Mechanical / Civil / Aeronautical / Metallurgical / Aerospace engineering with 60% marks can apply for it. The age group for this entry is 19 to 25 years as per notified in the advertisement
• SSC Naval Architecture: Women engineers within the age group of 21 to 25 years as per notified in the advertisement and having B.E/B.Tech degree in Naval architecture / Mechanical / Civil / Aeronautical / Metallurgical / Aerospace engineering with 60% marks can apply for it.
• Education Branch: Women candidates of age 21 to 25 years are eligible for this entry if they have passed B.E/B.Tech in Computer Science, IT, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical OR M.Sc in Physics / Maths / Computer application with atleast 50% marks

The selection of candidates to armed forces is carried out by Services Selection Board (SSBs) located at various centres across India.

DAY 1

Screenings:Screening process is to pick up some potential candidates from all those who  have reported for the particular entry. It consist of few activities like:

• • Verbal and Non-verbal Test: (About 50 questions each)
• • PPDT: Here, you will be shown a picture for 30 secs, later you have to write a story based on the shown picture.In the stage two of the PPDT, the candidates are given their stories, which they may revise. Then, in a group, each candidate must narrate his story in under one minute. The group is then asked to create a common story involving each or their perceived picture stories.

After completion of PPDT, you get some Lunch break and rest for 1-2 hours. Your screening results are declared after lunch break. The selected canddidates are given new chest numbers and rest are dropped at railway station or bus stand.

DAY 2

Psychological Test: Many tests are conducted to check the psychological suitability of the candidate to be an officer. Here, Time limit is very crucial.

• • Thematic Apperception Test [TAT]

One picture is hown for 30seconds and 4 minutes time is allotted to write on it. Eleven pictures are shown here.

• • Word Association Test [WAT]

Sixty words are shown back to back and time of 15 seconds is allotted  to make a sentence on each word.

• • Situation Reaction Test [SRT]

Sixty situations are given on a booklet and 30minutes time is allotted

• • Self Description Test [ SD]

Opinion on you by your friends, parents, family members and others. time allotted will be 15 minutes.

Days 3 and 4

Group Testing:

At this stage, individuals are given individual tasks as well as group tasks such as snake race, group obstacles and many more.

"Candidates are also interviewd from Day 2 to Day 4. the interviews are conducted by interviewing officers. It is primarily based on the personal information questionnaires filled by the candidates on day 0 ( arrival day at SSB) and some general knowledge"

Day 5

Final Assessment and Results(Conference)

on fifth day all the officers are allowed to attend the conference with full uniform. Each candidate gets opportunity to have conversation with a panel of assessors. The assessors look for confidence and expression when speaking. Following this, final results are announced. Successful candidates have to stay for an intensive medical examination at a military hospital which may take upto 3 to 5 days.

• • PPDT:  We have already talked so much aboutPPDTin later posts, this consist of story writing and discussion. You will be shown a picture for 30 secs, later you have to write a story based on the picture you have seen in 3 mins, after that, you will be divided into sub groups of 14-15 members, firstly each candidates will narrate his/her story which is  followed by the group discussion on the picture, among the group members.
